Frequently asked questions

Is acquagym good for those with joint problems too?

+
Yes: thanks to buoyancy, the body weighs much less in water, so acquagym lets you train with minimal impact on knees, hips and back. It’s also suitable for those with some joint discomfort or restarting after a period of inactivity. Those with specific conditions should discuss with their doctor whether aquatic therapy might be a better fit.

What’s the difference between Acquagym and Aquafit?

+
Acquagym is a fast-paced activity, focused on dynamic exercises to improve strength and endurance. Aquafit, on the other hand, alternates running and bodyweight exercises, performed with the help of a buoyancy belt suitable for all levels: it helps improve mobility, relaxation and posture.

Do I need to know how to swim to do acquagym?

+
No: acquagym takes place in shallow water, where you can touch the bottom, so knowing how to swim isn’t necessary. All you need is a willingness to move and a basic level of comfort with water. The exercises adapt to every fitness level, and the instructor offers easier or more intense variations.

Do I need a medical certificate to sign up?

+
No. In Switzerland a medical certificate is not required for pool courses and Ondarte does not ask for one: you can sign up directly, with no medical visits or health documents. We only ask you to let us know of any health conditions the instructor should be aware of, so we can support you as well as possible in the water.

Is the course recognised by health insurers?

+
Ondarte is recognised by several health insurers. Reimbursement conditions are set by each individual health insurer: we recommend checking them with your own insurance.
